JREDD+ programs generate emission reductions by avoiding deforestation and forest degradation across an entire jurisdiction, whether a country, state, province or department. Some also credit removals from the conservation, sustainable management and enhancement of forest carbon stocks.

Version 1.0 of the Sylvera JREDD+ Rating framework covers national and subnational programs, including high forest, low deforestation (HFLD) programs (Annex A).
