About our Improved Cookstoves Framework
Improved cookstove (ICS) projects reduce household fuel emissions by replacing inefficient traditional stoves that burn solid biomass with more efficient stoves, so that households burn less wood or charcoal. Credits are issued for the reduction in non-renewable biomass burned. Version 1.0 of Sylvera’s Cookstoves Estimated Rating framework covers improved biomass and charcoal cookstove projects. An EstimatedRating is an indicative range, such as A–BBB, derived from a limited set of materialdata points in public project documentation. It is not reviewed by a Ratings Committee, not monitored and produced without developer engagement.
